Stiff neck is very common these days.
It is often caused by the overuse and poor posture. This can happen from everyday activities like hunching over a laptop or phone, or reading in bed without adequate neck support.
Usually the pain may disappear after few days or a week, however if strenuous activities are being repeated, sometimes on a daily basis (work in front of computer, heavy lifting, repetitive neck movements), you may find a faster relief from massage therapy.
We incorporate Swedish massage when addressing neck pain. We focus mostly on long, steady strokes performed in the direction of blood flow to the heart with the inclusion of kneading and friction motions.
