Mineral Makeup, or doesn’t matter?
We have a strong message for women today: get serious about your makeup choices!
Some years ago, the studies conducted by the FDA found that 400 lipsticks on the market tested positive for lead. Some heavily contaminated brands contained more than 275 times the amount of lead found in the least contaminated products.
Lead is a poisonous metal and there are no safe levels of lead exposure. Because women ingest lipstick, it goes into their bodies and may accumulate to dangerous levels.
You may hear comments from the makeup manufacturers that the level of lead in lipsticks is very low. I urge my patients to approach such comments with caution.
OUR ADVICE: SWITCH TO MINERAL MAKE UP AND CHOOSE LIPSTICKS THAT PROTECT YOUR LIPS AND NOT DAMAGE THEM.
When shopping for lipstick, useful ingredients to look for in your lipstick are: Vitamin C, sun protection ingredients, natural hydrators and moisturizers.
